So puppies crying at night is a complaint I hear a lot. It boils down to puppies being just young and energetic and not having an outlet for it. Especially before they have had all their vaccines and can go outside and play with dogs and explore their environment, they have a tendency to get really kind of antsy, and they'll go to sleep. They sleep half the day if you're at work. Then you come home. They play with you for a few hours, and then you expect them to go back to sleep and sleep through the night. It's very difficult for them. Making sure that they have a lot of stimulation throughout the day and a lot of exercise before bed.

There are ways to exercise your dog even if you can't leave the house, if the puppy's too young to go outside. Find activities. If you teach them to come when called, then you can practice back and forth through the house with other family members so the dog is running from the living room to the bedroom and back. You can also do training circuits with the dog, where it's come, sit, stay, down, stay. Obviously this requires some basic training, but it's a great way to stimulate the dog's brain mentally and also get the dog moving and physically active. Replacing all meals, instead of giving the dog it's meals out of a dog dish, a traditional dog food bowl, I would give it frozen inside hollow bleached bones or Kongs or other stuff-able teething toys that they sell for dogs, things like Kongs, hollow bones, and the like. Now things like that are going to keep the dogs mentally and physically active even at times that they would normally be sleeping, like these guys.

But if you are expecting the dog to sleep through the night, you have to make sure that you're giving the dog plenty of stimulation and activity. The dog should be comfortable in the bed and its crate. And sometimes covering the crate up so that it minimizes noise and light so that the dog has a little den will sometimes help the dog to sleep through the night a little bit more soundly. Also, if you're dog's getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, you might want to limit water before bed. You could talk to your vet. Certain breeds have different requirements, but for the most part if the dog is loaded full of water and then you're putting a dog with a full bladder or a full bowel in bed, it's going to wake up in the night to use the bathroom. So be sure that you have the dog going to sleep with an empty bladder, who's tired and fulfilled from its busy day. And that would be some advice on how to keep your puppy from crying at night.

    1. hi everyone ,if anyone else wants to learn about puppy training tricks try Grathaw Canine Teaching Expert (just google it ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my colleague got great results with it.

  1. I got a Cavalier King Charles and he use to whine and cry ALL night, but every night one my phone I search up 12 hour clock ticking noises…bc the ticking has to do with reminding them of their mothers heart beat…i have been using for weeks now and the only time he wakes now is when he needs to go out.

    1. Well I got my puppy yesterday but I fund a technique for getting her to sleep you should take him on your lap intile it falls asleep then pic it up and put it in its bed

  2. I have a 8 week old terrier hound mix
He whined so much the first night
It’s the second night and I. Found a really good tool
Play classical music softly (as loud as your comfortable sleeping with) and it puts him to sleep so fast
He still wakes up at 4:30am cause he has to pee but he’s a pup so I don’t blame him

  3. I got my puppy yesterday and stayed up till 3 am since he kept crying and I had to get him out his crate so he could pee….basically I arrived dead to school

  4. I Have a Labador Retriver puppie and when he wakes up at night and sees noyone he starts crying untill someone comes and puts him to sleep. JASUS CHRIST

  5. my Grman Shepard puppy is 10 weeks old and he screems and crys at the same time and it is loud!!!!!!!!!!:(

    1. puppy love The best thing to do is just leave it wine it’s self to sleep do not Give him or her attention when wine because it will wine all night until you come to him or her so just leave it and sleep if this doesn’t help I suggest ask a vet why and yeh

    2. JustVlogs _Hey I ain’t letting my dog drink okay, I’m not letting her near alcohol and fermented grape juice just yet bucko, I’m alright when she whines but she is definitely not getting wine_

  6. I disagree with limiting the water. The body needs it to be healthy. I get up at least once during the night to take the puppy out. Also, last thing at night and first thing in the morning. And until they know how to ask to go out, I take them out several times a day. Always on leash, always praise when the deed is done.

    1. What I do is give him food and water before bed wait 10 minutes and take him outside I’m only 12 so I’ve been trying to train my new puppy… I have really bad grades in school😂

  7. My puppy cries every time he realizes I’m not in the same room he is. What is must frustrating is when he finally stops the crazy barking is because he is already out of his pen chewing on walls or carpet :/

    1. i had the same problem till i set a inflatable bed up and each week backed up further and further till i was in my own room

    2. BellezaReina I got a pup yesterday and when it was supposed to be asleep he was whining his heart out and crying because he couldn’t see me

  8. I have a Great Dane puppy. She cries all night long, seriously I’ve been up all night! I’m watching this video at 5:41 am

    1. Watching this at 4 am haven’t slept at all but my husbands sound asleep I don’t know how he can do it. She’s so loud hahaha

  9. my puppy wont sleep alone, even if shes in the same bed she would cry if I dont let her sleep in my arms or making contact

  10. To stop all the winning & loud barking take a old t-shirt sleep in it place it into kennel & his mind he’s with you

    1. Lynnette Carter _Might as well let them do the washing too, I mean they’re going to be living with you after all so they better pick up some new habits_

  11. I have a dachshund puppy. At night, he always whimpers and I have to get him and place him on my bed so that he will sleep. So I kept on doing that and he cannot sleep on his own even outside my bedroom. I cannot move him because he would just growl at me or bark. It has been very hard.

  12. The simplest way to stop them crying is to ignore them. Once you put them to sleep don’t go in till the morning, especially for the first week you have a puppy. We recently got a Goldendoodle and it only cried the first two night for about and hour each time, and was the same when we had a Staffy.
