    1. I had a chow chow for 14 1/2 years and she was very smart. Learnt things like sit, lay down, speak, give me five, show your tummy… and even walked free and would stop and wait for me before crossing the street. It was a great experience!! They need lots of care specially regarding their fur, but totally worth it!! Have fun with yours!!!

    1. Plain chicken breast cut into small pinky nail sized pieces. Don’t use commercial crap or rawhide like he does in all his videos. Those things are not good for dogs.

  1. how can i go to a non fenced park with out my two siberian huskys running away, with out a leash, when i let one of them outside of the house they sometimes stay close, but when i let both of them….they run like a cheetah really far and fast…i already got hurt trying to catch them and right now im sitting in my bed watching your live stream and this video to see if i can get any help? PLEASE HELP

    1. Kanchana Perera I am most definitely not putting a prong collar on my dog. You watch Zak’s videos, you should know they do more harm than not.

    2. How on Earth would a prong collar help in this situation? An ecollar if used with low level training under professional guidance would, but a prong collar is not a tool for teaching off leash reliability.

    3. So many uninformed ppl that get Huskies just because they look cool. You shouldn’t really let any dog off leash in an open park setting with other people/ pets. Not everyone wants your pets coming up to them. A responsible dog owner walks their dogs on a leash, if you want them to run around, thats what dog parks are for.

    1. Clean ears FREQUENTLY. I am a dog groomer, and both Dachsunds and Spanials are known for ear infections due to poor ear cleaning.

    2. i’m no expert but from experience, socialize them EARLY!! with dogs cats and humans. Most people don’t realize how important this is but then your pup grows up and you realize that you have a vicious cat killer and dog biter on your hands even if it’s a tiny dog!! I wish someone would have told me this back when i got my dachshund… good luck!!

  2. Clementine is absolutely gorgeous 😍😍😍😍I love when puppies are all floppy and their ears and legs are all over the place! So much fun, we’re so blessed to have dogs in our lives

    1. hi everyone ,if anyone else trying to find out training puppies try Knewreck Puppy Course Guide (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my colleague got excellent results with it.

  3. Zak, you often use the phrase “age appropriate exercise” do you have a recommended resource for what is considered appropriate at what age? Thanks!

    1. Mtbred the generally accepted amount would be five minutes of leash walking per month of age, but that does differ a little between breeds. It’s a good starting point though! And you can play as much as they want 😀

    2. I would just walk and play with them until they are tired. The most important is not to do anything too vigorous or that involves jumping high or from a height while they are still growing and developing

  4. The puppy years can be difficult but Zak is always so enthusiastic! It helps me to remember to stop and enjoy them and not worry so much about the negative. Thanks Zak 🙂

  5. My dog cries if she’s not in thr same room as me. She’ll only sleep if someone else is in the same room.
