As I am dialing in our backyard, I wanted to designate a place for Miss Cali Bella Rodriguez. I have a couple different DIY dog ideas for her space but started with the most important part – a DIY dog house. I love being able to change out the covering and can’t wait to try to build a more suitable wood covering option for colder weather. How would you decorate/build a dog bed for your furry friend? Hope you enjoy! Stay rad xx.

  1. I don’t have dogs, but I do have tiny humans. This would be sooooooooooo cute if it was much bigger as like a play house outside. Thanks for the inspo 💗💗

    1. Living to DIY with Rachel Metz i’m find your dog is adorable l have to myself and those are my babies Love all your videos

  2. I would have drilled holes the size of dowels and simply glued them. I looks like the screws actually split the dowels in the video.

    1. They did but I used wood filler and should’ve use smaller screws. Where I live it gets stupid windy and gluing dowels wouldn’t have held up. If you watch my tent video that I linked through the video – you’d see I already used that technique for an indoor one 😉

  3. I love your idea and congrats! I too am still beginning but I promise you learn fast because it sucks having to fix or even redo a project! Just some ideas: instead of using the plywood sheet as the base or floory for her dog house (especially because in rain water will sit on it) is use slats of either 1×2, 1×3, etc. leaving a gap in between each slat to allow the water to run down so there’s much les risk with damage. Also adding 1×2 trim around the areas where the boards and the plywood match up hides the fact that you’re using several kinds of different wood and cleans it up a bit! Lastly I love the fabric you chose and if you apply a darker stain first, then add watered down white paint or you can dry paint over the stain and have a unique look! Homemademodern used an aqua or turquoise paint color and then mixed it with water to apply the color without taking away the wood look like paint does.

  4. That is so cute!
You could maybe laminate the fabric or treat it with a waterproofing wash, so the bedding doesn’t get soaking wet if you ever leave it out in the rain. And it needs a name placket, of course! How else is Calli suppose to know it’s hers otherwise?

  5. Awww she so sweet! Love that little house!! I would love to see a video where you explain all your tools and their uses for beginners like me! Beginners guide to power tools! Or if you have a video to refer to that would be greatly appreciated!

    1. Ah! I am currently in the process of filming a series like this. Can’t wait to share!

  6. Did ya dad show u how to do all ya diy’s or are you flying by the seat of ya pants cuz girlllll you are good. This is very 👍 nice. And to answer ya question about how we’d do our dog house? I’d buy one🤷🏾‍♀️ Or pay you to do it😂😂😂😂😂 I’m intimidated, I’d have to call my husband to come help…..I’m afraid of tools….IJS

  7. I don’t know BUT .. I’m thinking you just may be building your own house one day .. or help in the process!! I don’t put anything passed You! That’s so darn cute! 🥂
